CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, June 11, 2003 – Raymond H. Legatti, Senior Vice President of Technology Research Corporation (TRC), (NASDAQ–TRCI), announced today that it has entered into a new licensing agreement with Applica Consumer Products, Inc. to incorporate its Fire Shield® technology into Black & Decker® Kitchen Products.

Mr. Legatti who is the inventor of Fire Shield® technology for TRC commented, “We are pleased Applica Consumer Products, Inc. selected our Fire Shield® Technology to be included in its safety system as it extends to a broader range of kitchen products, and TRC looks forward to working with Applica to further develop its broader safety platform.”   Mr. Legatti, a founder of TRC, has announced his intention to retire from the Company later this year and recently stepped down as TRC President.

Applica Consumer Products, Inc., under a licensing agreement with TRC for the past three years, has worked with TRC to implement TRC’s Fire Shield® Technology into its full line of Black & Decker® heaters and now will look to extend Fire Shield® Technology in Black & Decker® Kitchen Products as part of Applica’s Advanced Safety Technology™ (AST™) system.
