CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, April 16, 2002 – Robert S. Wiggins, Chairman and CEO of Technology Research Corporation (TRC), (NASDAQ:TRCI), announced that Rick O’Neal has been promoted to the newly created position of Vice President for Fire Shield Sales and Marketing.

 Mr. Wiggins said,  ”Because our Fire Shield technology and product lines represent a major growth opportunity for the Company, it is important that we have a specific focus just on those markets.  For example, the mandate requiring cord fire protection on room air conditioners, beginning in 2004, creates a $60 million a year market for the participants.   The new Fire Shield Power Surge Strip and the Fire Shield Extension Cord represents growth potential in the consumer marketplace while there continues to be opportunities in the OEM market for Fire Shield.”   He added, “We will also be concentrating on developing the market for our Fire Shield Home Wiring and Monitoring System, which we believe has the potential to create major long term growth for the Company.”

Rick O’Neal joined TRC five years ago and has had sales responsibilities for the Company’s distributor network, major accounts, OEM Fire Shield accounts and most recently the consumer market.  He is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in Industrial Engineering.  Prior to joining TRC, he held sales engineering and sales management positions with Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer and the American Superconductor Corp.
